Smooth.

K and I have been indulging ourselves in the world of smoothies. It’s been hot enough here lately that neither one of us wants to cook anything, nor really eat anything heavy. (Not having A/C puts a damper on being able to cool the house off when there isn’t much of a cool breeze until 8pm or so.) So he pulled out his smoothie blender, I picked up some frozen fruit, and we started the smoothie adventure!


Some notable concoctions:

Fruit: strawberry, peach
Juice: limeade
Yogurt: lime

Fruit: mango, peach
Juice: lemonade
Yogurt: vanilla

Fruit: berry mix (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, maybe one more)
Juice: lemonade
Yogurt: blueberry
* this was for K; I don’t like berries

Fruit: strawberry, mango
Juice: lemonade
Yogurt: peach

I need to try one with orange juice instead of lemonade or limeade. K discourages me from using my fat-free Yoplait yogurts because he claims they have no flavor. :-P Whatever.

This has been our dinner several nights in the last week, usually supplemented with pretzels and peanut butter for protein and some added filler. It’s healthy, filling, and cool. I think I lost a pound already on the smoothie diet. ;-) I could seriously do this for dinner every night… except that I’d probably need to eat some meat and vegetables now and then. :-P To top it off, we might toss in some fiber and iron supplements to get some other needed nutrients.
